Behind the Book – Beautiful You, Beautiful Me

Tasha Spillett-Sumner, author of the New York Times bestselling book I Sang You Down from the Stars (illus. by Michaela Goade), has teamed up with illustrator Salini Perera to bring you another heartwarming picture book.

In Beautiful You, Beautiful Me (publishing October 15), a child who looks different from her mother learns about beauty and belonging. In the starred review for this book, Kirkus called the story a “lovely accompaniment to any cuddle … that celebrates rather than dismisses the pair’s differences.”

Watch the video below to hear about the inspiration for Izzy and Mama’s tender, loving story.

Be sure to use the book’s free discussion guide to help foster conversations about identity and celebrating differences.
