Teachers take note: Owlkids Books is ready for back-to-school with some exciting changes!
“Quality literature is a must in our classrooms: to motivate and engage our student readers and as mentor texts to guide our student writers!”
— Karen Filewych, Author of Literacy Leadership Matters —
______________
We recently collaborated with Karen Filewych, a teacher, consultant and author, on ways to help teachers discover and use our books in the classroom. Books help with many aspects of teaching. They:
- help teach reading
- build background knowledge
- help children understand the world around them
- can be used to explore text forms and structures
- can be used as mentor texts to teach writing skills
We gained new insights and delved more deeply into curriculum connections and common classroom needs. This allowed us to improve the information we provide to help teachers, revamp our approach to classroom resources, and create a detailed, sortable, searchable Curriculum Guide to our books to help you easily find ways to incorporate new books into your classroom teaching:
